Abstract
The aim of the present study is to explore the current socio-cultural life of Santals resides in Jamda block of Mayurbhanj district in Odisha, in the same time the researcher tried to explore the current change of their living scenario in tribal areas of the particular sample area. Here the researcher tried to highlight their fairs and festivals, dress and ornaments, food and drinks etc. to make a critical analysis on their living style as a whole. To justify the title of the topic we framed two objectives along with same number of research questions. The findings of the study were that: They are very peace loving and traditional art & crafts are a part in their life. They celebrate their festivals and rituals throughout the year wearing their traditional dresses. These celebrations are made with tribal songs & dances in the open courtyard of the village as with beating drums of various types locally known as Madala, Dhola etc. They speak among themselves in their own language called Al-Chiki. At the same time they got used to speaking in Odia as well with the outsiders when they come to visit their village. In general these people are peace-loving & friendly with the outside visitors to their land.
