Mental health is the balanced development of the individual’s personality and emotional attitudes which enable him to live harmoniously with his fellow men. Mental health is defined as a state of well-being in which every individual realizes his or her own potential, can cope with the normal stresses of life, can work productively and fruitfully, and is able to make a contribution to her or his community. In the daily life, one has to make adjustments with his social environment as well as with one’s own ideas and ideals. Mental health is the ability to balance one’s feelings, emotions, desires and a mbitions in one’s daily living as well as the ability to face and accept the realities of life. Mental health aims to protect, support and sustain the emotional and social wellbeing of the population, from the earliest years through adult life to old age. It addresses people who are currently well and those at risk of developing a mental health problems or mental illness. When humans are free of depression, anxiety, excessive stress and worry, addictions, and other psychological problems, they are able to live their lives to the fullest and thus enhance the quality of life. The present paper discusses the role of mental health in developing human personality into a harmonious one.
