It traces a brief survey of legal aspects of abortions, intended for improvement in women’s health and reduction in maternal and infant mortality. It highlights the removable gaps in the achievement of these objectives on the basis of women’s experiences on the ground. Obstacles for access in abortion care are identified in three domains ie; lack of awareness, influence of patriarchy in decision making and finally unequal spread of medical facilities resulting in the downtrodden women being denied their reproductive rights.
